I have produced a few interesting videos that combine images and sound. I decided to put these online for two reasons:
The first being that they stand up as interesting work in their own right. The second reason is that they might be useful as examples to show film makers how my music could fit into their projects.
I am very interested in getting involved in film projects - a lot of the music I write has strong atmospheric qualities which would enhance any imagery set alongside them. I can, and will work for free, so if you are interested - please email me: [zenpho@zenpho.co.uk].
Videos hosted on vimeo:
These videos hosted on vimeo are of significantly higher video quality than youtube.
Recorded using my homebrew loop machine (see toshiba) Every frame is out of control, the compression algorithm ends up making up it's own textures and images from the source material!
For "strung" I shot on DV, then I split each frame out to JPEG and printed out the thumbnails on an inkjet in economy mode. After this, I scanned the thumbnail frames back in and re-assembled them back into a sequence. Mmmmmmm Grimey!
The music was created months after I had the idea for the grimey video processing. I composed the music to fit the changes in the video and augment the various moods of the images.
For "box", the music was written before the video. I wrote the music using a kids toy keyboard with an yamaha FM chip. I later had the idea for a video with a mystery box - where objects flit in and out of existence.
The video was shot on a Video8 camera, carefully mounted on a tripod. I edited out the parts where I was taking objects in and out of the box, added appropriate sound effects, and made sure the edits followed the rhythm of the music.
