early experiments with powerpoint timecoding

Our project has primarily focused on subtitling of video recordings that show the lecturer presenting projected powerpoint slides in a lecture theatre, recording their voice with a clip-on radio microphone pack.

We first produce the video to be subtitled by combining audio and video, recorded concurrently but separately using rackmount recorders installed in the lecture theatre. The subtitling process uses the audio recorded during the lecture, but does not directly use any existing timecoding related to the video (E.G. duration of slides shown during the lecture).

I have recently used powerpoint to record a 'narration' audio track for later experimentation.
